Avon is opening its first in-person immersive experience center called Studio 1886, paying homage to the year the leading social-selling beauty company was founded. In its 135-year history, Avon has provided opportunities for female entrepreneurs to earn income enduring World War I, the Spanish Flu, and economic downturns around the globe.
Opening the studio during COVID-19 reinforces Avon’s enduring “door-to-door” business model. The launch includes the implementation of extensive in-store processes and training to ensure a safe environment for the public. There will be a limited number of customers who can enter at any given time and social distancing guidelines will be followed. All testers will be for display only and sampling will be limited to prepackaged samples. Hand sanitizer will be available for use throughout the space, and services such as makeovers, skin treatments, and in-studio classes will be suspended at this time.
Created for today’s beauty consumers, the 19,000-square-foot space covers two floors and embodies the evolution of the brand under the adept hand of Avon’s Chief Brand and Beauty Officer James Thompson. Studio 1886 elevates the Avon experience like never before. The purpose of the space is twofold, accessible to both the company’s hundreds of thousands of independent representatives and the community of beauty lovers, and the space exists to learn, play, train, and rediscover the beauty of Avon through a multisensory experience.
“We are very excited about this new chapter and are proud to create a unique space for our Avon community to connect and celebrate their love of Avon,” said Avon CEO Paul Yi. “Studio 1886 will showcase Avon’s growing commitment to bringing customers and Avon Representatives the top trends and innovation in beauty while driving engagement.”
Key Elements of Studio 1886:
